During his first visit to Canada, Ethan organizes a serene camping trip to give Joy a break from her hectic job. In the midst of nature’s tranquility, he proposes to Joy, who joyfully accepts, sealing the deal with a heartfelt "yes." Their bliss, however, is short-lived as the pandemic puts their love to the test.
#2 Joy proposes to help Ethan by entering a common-law marriage, years after their breakup
Years after their turbulent split, Ethan re-enters Joy’s life accidentally as he aims to restart his life in Canada. During a casual picnic, Joy's friend Baby suggests that Ethan consider a common-law marriage to expedite his residency. Surprisingly, Joy offers the same, leading to a complex but intriguing turn in their relationship.
#3 Ethan moves into Joy’s home to make their common-law marriage believable
With a no-drama agreement in place, Joy reluctantly lets Ethan move in. At first, she's giving off icy vibes, but their friends aren’t having it. They nudge her to thaw out, sparking some of that old magic as Ethan settles in.
#4 Joy feels awkward sleeping next to Ethan as his common-law wife
The reality of their new living arrangement hits hard on the first night, with Joy feeling the awkwardness of sharing a bed with Ethan, whom she had once shut out completely. The tension is palpable, and it’s so uncomfortable that Joy accidentally falls off the bed!

As days turn into weeks, Joy and Ethan slowly warm up to the familiarity of their past feelings. This culminates in a heart-fluttering scene where they lie face-to-face in bed, the air thick with unsaid words, ending simply with a whispered “Good night.”
