MANILA — SB19 and IV of Spades emerged among the biggest contenders for the 39th Awit Awards, with both acts scoring multiple nominations in the awards’ top categories.
SB19 earned nods for Album of the Year for “Simula at Wakas,” while “Dam” is in the running for Record of the Year and Song of the Year. IV of Spades, meanwhile, landed multiple nominations for “Andalucia,” “Aura,” “Konsensya” and “Monster.”
The 39th Awit Awards Grand Awards Ceremony is set for Sept. 15 at 6 p.m. at the SM Mall of Asia Arena.
Nominees for the Album of The Year are "Silakbo" (Cup of Joe), "Andalucia" ( IV of Spade), "Simula at Wakas" (SB19), "Kolorcoaster" (Maki), ":Love on Loop" (Lola Amour), and "Lab Songs ng Mga Tanga" (Janine Berdin).
Vying for the Record of the Year are "Pag-Ibig Ay Kanibalismo II" (Fitterkarma), "Dam" ( SB19), "Saranggola" (Ben&Ben), "Konsensya" (IV of Spades), "Ikigai" (Dionela Featuring Loonie), and "Monster" (IV of Spades).
Meanwhile, "Aura" (IV of Spades), "Pag-Ibig Ay Kanibalismo II" (Fitterkarma), "DUNGKA!" (SB19), "Kabisado" (IV of Spades), "Kahel Na Langit" (Maki), and "Ikigai" (Dionela Featuring Loonie) are nominated for Song of the Year.
Directed by Nico Faustino and Paolo Valenciano, the ceremony honors achievements in Filipino recorded music.
