Charlie Puth has released his highly anticipated fourth studio album Whatever's Clever! via Atlantic Records
The singer-songwriter shared that he leaned into a more personal and introspective approach with this new record.
"I had to take a closer look at myself to make this record and sing about things I normally wouldn’t sing about," he said in a press release. "Audiences knew my music more than they knew me because I never really gave them a chance to know me. This is the chance."
He also spoke about finding the perfect collaborator in co-producer BloodPop.
"I knew I wanted to make a rich, warm, and big-sounding record. BloodPop pushed me to use sonics I hadn’t touched before, to sing about subjects I’d never sung about, and write songs that might’ve made me uncomfortable in the past," he stated.
The singer went on: "The best singers don’t flawlessly sing on pitch, the guitar goes out of tune, or the record skips. If A.I. is going to take over the world, we decided to be as human as possible. It only took a couple of songs with BloodPop pushing me, then I was pushing myself."

Charlie released the album's lead single, "Changes," in October last year.
In the music video for the track, the singer revealed that he and his wife, Brooke Sansone, were expecting their first child, with Sansone showing her baby bump in one scene. The couple welcomed their first child in March this year.
The singer is set to embark on a tour this year starting in April, with stops across the United States, Canada, and Europe.
