Comedienne Ethel Booba opened up about how her relationship with chef Jessie Salazar started, recalling their first meeting in Boracay.
In an interview on Karen Davila’s latest YouTube vlog, the couple shared that they met at a party on the island, where Jessie was then working as a chef.
"Usually, I work in provinces kasi. Ang kagandahan if provinces 'yung work ko lahat free. So, free na 'yung accommodation, free laundry, everything, so 'yun na lang magwo-work ako kaya I choose provinces 'pag nagwo-work ako. Kitchen lang talaga ang buhay ko nun," Jessie relayed.
Ethel revealed that she eventually lived in Boracay for over a year while Jessie was based there. The couple now have a daughter together.
"Tumira talaga kami dito ng one year and three months nung nag-work si chef dito. Bumalik na kami ng Manila kasi nga mag-school na 'to (pertaining to her daughter), mag-school na siya," Ethel shared.
When asked if she misses her life on the island, Ethel admitted: "Nakaka-miss siyempre, daming memories."
She also reflected on the simplicity of life in Boracay.
"Ang simple lang talaga dito. Sobrang simple. Magiging simple ka dito kasi wala kang choice lalo na sa sasakyan. 'Yung public na tricycle may mga kasabay ka talaga, magugulat ka talaga minsan, ay si Ethel nasa tricycle, 'yung ganun. So magiging simple 'yung buhay mo dito. 'Pagka minsan nga nakikita ka nila, 'ay local na 'yan si Ethel," she said.
On what he admires most about Ethel, Jessie highlighted: "Lahat, how she is, kasi from the start na nagsimula kami, nung una kaming nagkakilala Ethel Booba is Ethal Booba already pero nung nakilala ko siya, kumakain ng goto, kumakain ng karenderya, walang ano sa katawan, dun pa lang eh. Hanggang sa 'yun hindi siya pwedeng magka-baby kasi may anemia siya so she tried. Gusto kong magka- baby, alam niya 'yun eh. Binigay niya talaga."

In a past interview with ABS-CBN News, Ethel shared how motherhood changed her life.
"Nag-mature talaga ako nu'ng naging nanay ako. Oo, iba na 'yung priorities ko. Ngayon hindi na ako bumibili ng mamahaling damit, kailangan mura na lang kasi mayroon akong pinagkakagastusan kasi ang mahal ng gatas, diaper," she said. "Ngayon, iniisip ko kailangan ko talagang mag-ipon dahil 'yung future niya."
