Television host and comedienne Ethel Booba recently opened up about her journey into entrepreneurship.
In an interview with Karen Davila for her latest YouTube vlog, Ethel, who now owns a beauty product business, revealed that it was her partner, chef Jessie Salazar, who first encouraged her to start her own venture.
"Hindi ako 'yung nakaisip nito. Ang nakaisip nito si chef. Sabi niyang ganun, 'Babe magre-resign ako. Magtitinda tayo ng beauty products,'" she recalled. "Sabi ko, 'Sigurado ka?' [Sabi niya], 'Oo sige, akong bahala.'"
Believing in the quality of her product, Ethel shared she went all in, even pawning two of her properties to raise capital.
"Sinangla ko 'yung dalawang bahay ko kasi nung na-perfect ko 'yung gusto kong sabon, sabi ko panlaban 'to. Tinesting ko muna sa sarili ko eh... Ito pang-long term itong ginagawa ko kasi 'yung quality talaga ang talagang mine-maintain namin dito," she said.
When asked what advice she would give to newcomers in the entertainment industry, Ethel emphasized the importance of financial wisdom. "Subukan niyong magtipid. Lahat ng bagay dito sa mundo, walang permanent. Gamitin niyo 'yung pera ninyo, magpaikot kayo ng pera, mag-negosyo kayo," she remarked.
In the same interview, Ethel also shared her thoughts on motherhood, which she considers one of her greatest achievements.
"'Yung pagiging nanay. Actually ito 'yung mga hinhintay ng friends ko. 'Yung dati, binu-bully nila ako, [sabi nila], 'Uy ang tanda mo na, kailan ka ba magti-tino... Puro ka na lang party. Di ka ba maga-asawa, di ka ba maga-anak?' Pero na-achieve ko siya," she stated.
To fellow women, Ethel shared an inspiring message of faith and perseverance: "Alam mo idasal mo. Wala talagang imposible 'pag ka sinamahan mo talaga ng dasal, hindi siya joke, talagang totoo siya. Lalo na pag taimtim, 'yung gustong-gusto mo talaga, 'yung seryoso ka. Tapos kailangan mag-pursige ka kung gusto mong magbago ka, kung gusto mong may ma-achieve, kailangan mo rin paghirapan 'yan. Work hard, tiyaga, may mga paghihirap talaga eh pero makakaya mo 'yan."
