OPM pop band Lola Amour admitted how they never imagined their song, "Raining in Manila," to top the charts. In an interview with King of Talk Boy Abunda earlier this week, the band expressed how they weren’t checking the data in the past as playing music was just a hobby for them back then.
Lola Amour’s "Raining in Manila" has over 186 million streams on Spotify alone and has broken several records for biggest streaming day and week for a Filipino song on the same music streaming platform.

Pio Dumayas, the band’s vocalist, spoke on behalf of the band as they were all in shock when it was happening at that time.
“Parang hindi namin na isip na talaga nag number one 'to? How did we get here? Kasi hindi namin napansin–– hindi kami nag momonitor ng charts [at] ng data at that time. Hobby lang talaga namin yung Lola Amour at that time. When we saw that this was happening, we didn’t know what it meant cause we weren’t really chasing that level,” he explained.
Their song has been performed in several shows which included a duet with Coldplay’s Chris Martin during the band’s concert in the country back in 2024 at the Philippine Arena.
When asked by Boy about the controversial teaser for their music video and how they take comments by the netizens, Pio expressed that they remain watchful of the things they put out and don’t take things to heart if the backlash they receive are empty.
“I don’t want to blanket it to say na takot kami sa backlash. I guess we are just watchful of when we are actually doing something wrong or kung empty backlash siya. Kung empty backlash, we don’t take it to heart,” he explained.

Having reached a level of success and fame, Lola Amour maintained that they are more than the "conyo" labels being associated with them by some of the public. Pio shared that it’s the price they have to pay having been put into the spotlight.
“I guess ganun talaga when you’re in the spotlight, people will always have something to say about you. Pero, hindi naman–– we’re more than what people think of us. Hindi naman namin personality yung pagkaconyo. I guess nasasabi lang yan tungkol sa amin tuwing naririnig nila yung mga schools na pinanggalingan namin,” Pio shared.
Meanwhile, Lola Amour just released their latest album titled Love on Loop, earlier this month. They are set to hold their Love on Loop: The Album Concert this coming September 12 at The Space at One Ayala in Makati City.
