MANILA -- Actress and performer AC Bonifacio is embracing a new challenge as she joins the cast of the upcoming comedy film "Saving Cherry."

Bonifacio stars alongside Barbie Forteza, Mika Salamanca, Mikee Quintos, Sassa Gurl, and other Kapuso artists.

Bonifacio said she was immediately drawn to the project because it gives her the opportunity to portray a character unlike anything she has done before, while introducing a fresh concept to Philippine cinema.

"I'm just so excited to do something very different from AC Bonifacio. Something new and just a movie that is needed in Philippine cinema. I feel like it's a concept that's never been put out before," she shared.

The actress added that she has already been telling her friends about the story because of how much she enjoys its concept and is excited for audiences to finally see it on the big screen.

Although she previously appeared in the campy horror-comedy "Shake, Rattle & Roll," Bonifacio said "Saving Cherry" marks her first project centered entirely on comedy.

"I was very scared because my jokes don't hit sometimes because of my English and stuff like that. But with Direk and the whole cast, they've definitely helped me through all of it. I learned a lot," she said.

Bonifacio also expressed her appreciation for working with a diverse ensemble cast, saying it was a memorable experience collaborating with both artists she grew up watching and fellow performers from different networks.

"It's so nice being around these new artists and artists that I got to watch growing up. It's nice that we're finally able to cross over and work together. I've been learning so much. I always love to meet new people to learn, and this is one of those movies that will stick with me no matter where I am," she said.

Outside of "Saving Cherry," Bonifacio is also part of the GMA series Born to Shine while continuing to pursue new acting opportunities through auditions.

"I'm just sticking with what I love to do," she said.

"Saving Cherry" opens in cinemas nationwide beginning September 2, 2026.
