Spider-Man does whatever a spider can, including demolishing box office records both here and abroad.
Sony Pictures and Marvel Studios’ “Spider-Man: Brand New Day” is now the undisputed champion of the box office after setting the biggest post-pandemic opening weekend in the Philippines.

Columbia Pictures Industries, Inc., distributor of “Spider-Man: Brand New Day,” said this makes the film the biggest Spider-Man movie and third biggest opening weekend in the Philippines, trailing “Avengers: Endgame” and “Avengers: Infinity War.”

Globally, Spidey’s new film has also demolished records, earning a massive $355 million in North America alone since opening last week. This is just $2 million shy of "Avengers: Endgame’s” debut haul of $357 million during its opening weekend in 2019.
Even more spectacular, “Spider-Man: Brand New Day” earned an additional $573 million abroad so far, putting its worldwide total at a staggering $928 million in just five days.
"This is a colossal opening," said analyst David A. Gross of Franchise Entertainment Research. The summer has been without a big action title for nine weeks -- an eternity at the box office. The market is ripe-ripe-ripe for this film."

Set more than 4 years after “Spider-Man: No Way Home,” the new movie sees Peter Parker dealing with the effects of Doctor Strange’s spell, in which the whole world including his closest friends have forgotten who he is.
While Spider-Man has made New York City a safer place against threats such as Scorpion and Tombstone, a new body-hopping threat has emerged -- one that may usher in a new era in the Marvel Cinematic Universe and threaten his closest friends, MJ and Ned.
“Spider-Man: Brand New Day” is now showing in 700 Philippine theaters nationwide, including ScreenX, 3D/4DX, and other specialty formats. -- With Agence France-Presse
