Kapamilya star Gerald Anderson said he looks forward to audiences experiencing his new show Blood vs. Duty, saying it is on a whole new level.

“Different kinds of action drama na it’s leveled up on all terms — action, storytelling, acting. Yung trabaho ng lahat ng tao leveled up, so yun po yung inaabangan ko na mapanood sana ng mga tao,” Gerald shared.

With this, the actor expressed hope that audiences will not only enjoy the action sequences but also appreciate the depth of storytelling and the effort poured into every aspect of the production.

In the series, he takes on the role of Jalil, a devout Muslim deeply committed to his family and community. His peaceful life, however, is disrupted by a tragic event that sets him on a relentless path towards justice.

Beyond the physical demands of the role, Gerald emphasized the importance of authenticity in portraying Jalil. He revealed that the production worked closely with consultants, and he even took the initiative to seek a deeper understanding on his own.

“Unang-una, may mga naging consultant kami. Sa personal time ko, may mga iba pa akong natanong na Maharlika dito sa Philippines, dito sa Taguig. Nakipagkita ako sa kanila just to get more information. Bata pa lang ako, exposed na ako sa kultura ng Muslim, and I’ve always been fascinated sa Islam,” he shared.

His effort to understand the role goes beyond performance, reflecting a strong commitment to respectfully and accurately represent the Muslim community. By immersing himself in the culture and seeking guidance, the actor said he aims to bring sincerity and depth to Jalil’s story.

The actor also revealed that despite coming from the physically and emotionally demanding Sins of the Father, he immediately accepted the project, describing it as one of his dream roles.

Blood vs. Duty follows the story of two brothers torn apart by a maritime tragedy and a long-buried family secret. Marcus (Richard Gutierrez), now a skilled intelligence officer, and Jalil, a fierce protector of his Tausug community, find themselves on opposing sides of an escalating conflict.

Set to premiere on April 6 across ABS-CBN platforms, the show airs from Monday to Friday at 8 p.m. The action-drama will be available for early streaming on Netflix starting April 3 and on iWant on April 4. The series brings together intersecting narratives of law enforcers and community defenders as they navigate a tense crackdown on illegal firearms.
