Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone has achieved a historic feat, as its trailer became the most-watched in HBO and HBO Max history, exceeding the previous record by more than double.
According to a press release from Warner Bros. Discovery, the trailer reached more than 277 million organic views across platforms within its first 48 hours.
Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone is the first installment of the series.
"On his 11th birthday, a letter of admittance to Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry opens up a hidden world for Harry: one of fun, friendship, and magic. But with this new adventure comes great risk as Harry is forced to face a dangerous enemy from his past," read its official logline.
The series will star Dominic McLaughlin as Harry Potter, Arabella Stanton as Hermione Granger, and Alastair Stout as Ron Weasley.
Also joining the cast are Nick Frost as Rubeus Hagrid, Janet McTeer as Professor Minerva McGonagall, Lox Pratt as Draco Malfoy, and John Lithgow as Albus Dumbledore.
The trailer follows Harry's early life, where he struggles under the care of his aunt and uncle before receiving his letter of acceptance to Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry.
It also features his first meeting with Hagrid, who introduces him to the wizarding world.
The footage offers glimpses of Harry’s first year at Hogwarts, as well as his budding friendship with Ron and Hermione.

"This new Max Original series will dive deep into each of the iconic books that fans have continued to enjoy for all of these years," Casey Bloys, Chairman and CEO, HBO & Max Content, remarked in a past statement as reported by Deadline. He also assured fans that the show will be "a faithful adaptation" to the books.
The series is set to debut in Christmas 2026 on HBO and will be available to stream exclusively on HBO Max.
