Netflix has revealed the lead cast for its upcoming live-action Scooby-Doo series.

According to a press release from Tudum, McKenna Grace will star as Daphne Blake, alongside Tanner Hagen as Shaggy Rogers, Abby Ryder Fortson as Velma Dinkley, and Maxwell Jenkins as Fred Jones.

The show delves into the origins of the group, following longtime friends Shaggy and Daphne during their last summer at camp. Their plans take a dark turn when they become caught up in a chilling mystery involving a lost Great Dane puppy that may have been a witness to a supernatural killing.

Joined by the logical and science-driven Velma, along with a mysterious yet charming newcomer named Freddy, they work together to unravel the case, one that draws them into an eerie ordeal and threatens to uncover secrets they would rather keep hidden.

The live-action adaptation will consist of eight episodes, as previously reported by Tudum.

The series is executive produced by Scott Rosenberg and Josh Appelbaum, alongside Greg Berlanti, Sarah Schechter, and Leigh London Redman of Berlanti Productions, as well as André Nemec and Jeff Pinkner of Midnight Radio.

"Mystery Inc. is back in business! We’re excited to bring Scooby-Doo to TV as a live-action series for the first time," Peter Friedlander, vice president of scripted series at Netflix, remarked in a previous press release.

Together with creative powerhouses Berlanti Productions and Midnight Radio, we’re committed to delighting longtime fans and opening up a world of groovy adventures for a new era of meddling kids."

The series is produced under Berlanti Productions’ overall deal with Warner Bros. Television.

The Scooby-Doo project is part of Netflix’s ongoing push to expand major franchises through live-action adaptations, following titles such as One Piece, Avatar: The Last Airbender, and Wednesday.
