South Korean superstar IU portrays a woman who boldly asks for a prince's hand in marriage in the latest teaser for the much-awaited romantic comedy series "Perfect Crown," where she stars opposite heartthrob Byeon Woo-seok.
Set in a modern-day Korea ruled by a monarchy, "Perfect Crown" follows the romance between conglomerate heiress Hui-ju (IU) and Prince I-an (Byeon Woo-seok), who enter into a marriage to achieve their respective goals.
The trailer, unveiled Thursday by Disney+ Philippines, offers a glimpse into Hui-ju's story as she devises a plan to marry I-an to elevate her social standing.
When the prime minister (played by Noh Sang-hyun), who appears to be an acquaintance of Hui-ju, asks if she intends to marry the prince for a title, the heiress responds with a blunt, confident nod, as seen in the teaser.
"I'm looking to move up in society," IU's Hui-ju says in a voiceover.
The trailer ends with Hui-ju popping the question: "Will you marry me?".
An earlier teaser focused on I-an, describing him as a "dangerous, lonely man" and hinting at a power struggle within the palace.
Scheduled to premiere on April 10, "Perfect Crown" has generated buzz for pairing beloved K-drama and K-pop star IU with Woo-seok, who rose to greater popularity following his lead role in the drama "Lovely Runner."
The pair are joined by Noh Sang-hyun, who appeared in "Pachinko" and "Genie, Make a Wish," and Gong Seung-yeon, who starred in "Are You Human?" and "Karma."
