New friends, new frenemies, new costume, new powers (?), same old Parker luck. Marvel’s favorite wall-crawler is taking a beating but keeps on ticking in the “Spider-Man: Brand New Day” trailer from Marvel Studios and Sony Pictures.
In the new movie, Peter Parker a.k.a. Spider-Man is dealing with the aftermath of “Spider-Man: No Way Home” including the death of Aunt May, the loss of his suit and connection with Stark Enterprises and his deal with Doctor Strange that left the entire world forgetting his secret identity and erasing his friendships and relationship with MJ.
Spider-Man is still everybody's favorite arachnid-powered superhero - even getting the key to the city but his alter ego longs to reconnect with MJ and best friend Ned who are now in MIT.
He is also faced with new challenges such as supervillains The Scorpion and Tarantula while also fending off Marvel’s brutal antihero Frank Castle a.k.a. The Punisher.
The trailer also shows Peter seemingly dealing with his powers going haywire including a scene where he rips himself out of a cocoon on the roof of a building and seemingly saving himself from death via organic webshooters. This prompts him to ask for help from the world’s foremost gamma scientist Bruce Banner a.k.a The Hulk who has no idea who he is.
The trailer ends with Spider-Man fighting off a pack of ninjas and Peter’s attempt to reintroduce himself to Ned and MJ who calls him a “friendly neighbor” after he gives her flowers.
“Spider-Man: Brand New Day” stars Tom Holland as Peter Parker/Spider-Man, Zendaya as Michelle “MJ” Watson, Jacob Batalon as Ned Leeds, Mark Ruffalo as Bruce Banner/Hulk, Jon Bernthal as The Punisher, and Michael Mando as Scorpion.
“Spider-Man: Brand New Day” is swinging into Philippine cinemas on July 29.
