Veteran actress Jackie Lou Blanco has long been celebrated for her extensive body of work, including the iconic Star Cinema classic Magic Temple in 1996.
During an exclusive interview with PUSH ABS-CBN, she reminisced about her experience working on the fantasy-adventure film.
“I think yung naka-mask (ako) and I guess just working with the kids and with such beautiful material na ginawa ni Peque (Gallaga), na kahit hanggang ngayon, di ba, you still remember that. That movie made so much of an impact,” she recalled.
Jackie Lou added that the late director was truly visionary for his age.
“Peque was really way beyond his years, no? Na wow, hanggang ngayon, it's still relevant and it's still remembered and very well loved,” she expressed.
The actress also mentioned that, if given the chance, she is willing to reprise her role or at least be part of the project if the movie is ever remade. “Oh my gosh, of course, yes, by all means.”
In the classic film, Jackie Lou played the villainess Ravenal, who opposed the young heroes Jubal, Sambag, and Omar, portrayed by Jason Salcedo, Junell Hernando, and Marc Solis, respectively. The movie was digitally restored by ABS-CBN Film Restoration in 2018.
Meanwhile, Jackie Lou also shared which actors she dreams of working with at this point in her career.
“I want to work again with Miss Hilda Coronel. I worked with her before, pero sana, I can work with her again. Maybe Vilma Santos, ‘di ba? I don't think I've ever worked with her, but yeah, it would be wonderful if I could do that. Or Jodi Sta. Maria, I haven't worked with her,” she expressed.
Currently, Jackie Lou is part of an all-female-led stage play titled Anthropology, and she also shared that she will be appearing in an upcoming Cinemalaya film.
“I'm going to be part of VLF (Virgin Lab Fest) and then I'm doing a Cinemalaya film also soon. So for now, yun pa lang. And I hope, of course, a lot of your followers who watch Anthropology sana,” she expressed.
