A new action-packed Hollywood film has something special: Filipino talents in front of and behind the cameras.
"The Wrecking Crew," released under Amazon MGM Studios, features Filipino-American actors Dave Bautista and Jacob Batalon, both known for starring in Marvel films.
"[There's] a lot of representation in this film, which I'm very proud of. Jason [Momoa] being an Islander, me being Filipino and our director of being Puerto Rican, our female lead being Brazilian. My co-star, Jacob, being Filipino also. I'm working with a lot of Filipinos these days,' Bautista said in an exclusive interview with ABS-CBN News during the film's London premiere.
Bautista added that he could not put into words how he feels seeing more Filipinos in Hollywood.
"As a little kid, my representation was Bruce Lee. And he's Asian descent, obviously, but he's not Filipino," he said.
But apart from actors, Filipino talent Jon Valera also served as the film's stunt coordinator and second unit director, receiving high praises from lead actor Jason Momoa and director Angel Manuel Soto.
"We've been together for 15 years. Yes, he does all my movies. I owe a lot to him, and that's what I think we look forward to one-upping every movie. We want to elevate each other, and he's family," Momoa said of Valera.
In "The Wrecking Crew," Momoa and Bautista play estranged half-brothers who reunite after their father's mysterious death.
Momoa also shared why the film is special to him.
"It's my first idea for a movie. So this came about two decades ago and I've been holding on to it, and I mentioned it to Dave and then he just tweeted it out to the world, and then here we are," he said.
"The Wrecking Crew" will start streaming on Prime Video on January 28.
