Piolo Pascual and Kyle Echarri took time off from the busy schedule to grace the red carpet premiere of their movie “The Ride”.
The event was attended by celebrities such as Joshua Garcia, Belle Mariano, Maricel Soriano, Arci Munoz, Ogie Diaz, Joaquin Arce, other industry friends and fans.
Piolo and Kyle expressed their gratitude to all who made it to the event despite the bad weather.
Piolo even joked, “Kahit may baha, kahit may mga korap!”, which received some laughs from the packed SM The Block Cinema 3.
The movie revolved around the story of Barry (Piolo) and Leo (Kyle) who planned to visit Sally, Leo’s mom and Barry’s ex-partner, but the “ride” to visit Sally turned into a whole day of unexpected twists and turns as Barry was haunted some mafia who wants him dead.
The film ran for just 68 minutes and when the lights turned on, Kyle was drowning in his tears. The young Kapamilya actor turned emotional watching himself pull off the last scene.
Speaking to the press right after the premiere, Kyle said: “I can’t explain it eh, marami akong pinagdaanan sa pelikulang ‘to. Kung mapapanood niyo po yung eksena sa huli, it was the day before my sister passed kaya yung iyak ko doon sobrang totoo. I don’t know, I’m just feeling a lot of emotions right now but more than anything I am just so blessed na naipalabas na namin sa lahat.”
He added, “I’m super emotional now, but I assure you these are happy tears. I finally was able to show the world a real story. Part siya ng buhay ko, itong movie na ito.”
Piolo said, “It really hit close to home. So it was really at a vulnerable time when we shot it. It was almost post-pandemic, very sensitive everything that happened that time. And to be able to go back and just really realize what we did, ‘wow grabe!’.”
“Ang dami kong bubog sa movie na ‘to!” said Kyle. “Ang gusto kong mensahe sa pelikulang to is that you’ll never when it’s your time. Dapat you savor the time you have with sa mga taong mahal mo.”
