Known as the OGs of the television drama series Mara Clara, the iconic onscreen rivalry between Judy Ann Santos and Gladys Reyes left an indelible mark in the hearts of the Filipino audience.
More than two decades have passed since the last airing of the show in 1997, Judy Ann and Gladys reunited to reenact a confrontation scene between their characters Mara and Clara from the series — but with a twist.
In a video shared by Official Juday PH on Instagram on Monday, May 19, Judy Ann played Clara, a mean and spoiled girl, while Gladys played Mara, loving and understanding daughter — a deviation from their original roles.
“In another world, Judy Ann as Clara and Gladys as Mara?! Grabe, iconic throwback ‘to,” Official Juday PH captioned its post.
After delivering their respective lines, the two actresses shared a laugh.
“Ganon na po talaga, hindi na po namin ma-deliver ito nang diretso at seryoso dahil tinatawanan po talaga namin every time na manunumbalik kami doon sa eksenang ‘yun,” Gladys explained in the video.
The reenactment video was taken from their reunion which served as a post-celebration of Juday’s birthday and Mother’s Day last May 11.

Gladys shared some photos from the get-together on social media and expressed a heartwarming message for her fellow Mara Clara star.
"To my forever MARA, my sister from another family, happy birthday and happy Mother's Day Jud @officialjuday," she wrote.
The actress expressed her gratitude to Juday for making their reunion possible by making time.
"Salamat at pagkatapos ng mahabang panahon, muli tayong nagkasama kasabay ng mahabang kwentuhan at tawanan! Di man tayo madalas magkita, tulad ng pangako natin sa isa't-isa, walang magbabago sa pagmamahalan natin," she expressed.
The original Mara Clara was aired on ABS-CBN from 1992 to 1997 and was recognized as one of the longest-running series on Philippine television.
According to IMDb, the series features the story of "two girls, switched at birth, grow up in opposite worlds, one in privilege, the other in hardship, leading to a bitter rivalry as they uncover the truth about their past.”
The series had its 2010 version which starred then teen stars Kathryn Bernardo and Julia Montes who played Mara and Clara, respectively.
