Now that he and current love team partner Kim Chiu have finally finished shooting their first movie together, heartthrob Paulo Avelino admitted his excitement has grown, especially after he first watched the official trailer for the film.
“Ang daming parts ng pelikula na sobrang exciting panuorin and nagulat ako na merong mga linagay dito,” he said.
Yet, Paulo promised there are so much more scenes to wach out for in the film.
“Sobrang bitin pa. Kumbaga, naiisip ko ‘yung mga shinoot naming mga eksena at napakarami pang magpapatawa, magpapakilig and magpapagulat sa mga viewers natin,” Paulo teased. “So kung nagustuhan niyo yung trailer, 100% mas magugustuhan niyo pa yung pelikula.”
In My Love Will Make You Disappear, Paulo plays a mysterious businessman named Jolo who enters the life of Sari (played by Kim), a government employee in her 30s who has never had a boyfriend since birth because she believes every boy she kisses will automatically disappear from her life.
Paulo thinks the role of Sari will be very relatable to a wide audience.
“Yung dilemma niya very true to her age. Pero lahat ng age group makaka-relate dun kasi ‘yun talaga ‘yung pinagdadaanan ng mga babae,” he said. “Actually nakakatawa siya kung mapapanuod nila pero at the same time, may konting kurot kahit masaya ‘yung nangyayari.”
Paulo also talked about his experience whenever there is a kissing scene.
“Para sa akin, never naging comfortable dahil sino ba namang gustong naghahalikan na parang isang daang tao ‘yung nanunuod sayo sa set? Ang daming nanunuod,” he shared. “So minsan, sinasabi ko kay Kim, ‘Kim, rehearse muna tayo bago tayo mag-ano’ (laughs).”
For those who could relate to Sari’s dilemma and are heartbroken or lonely in real life, Paulo urged them to keep the hope alive.
“Siguro ‘yung advice ko sa mga may pinagdadaanan ngayon is that it’s not the end of the world,” he said. “Minsan, iniisip natin katapusan na ng lahat, pero habang pinagpapatuloy natin ‘yung buhay natin, mas nakakahanap tayo ng mas mabubuti at mas magagandang bagay na dumadating sa buhay natin. So, it’s not the end of the world and there’s always something to look forward to.”
From doing more of drama onscreen, the Kapamilya actor shared how he adjusted to his first full romantic comedy project in the big screen.
“Of course, may baseline lagi and the baseline always for me is the script, the character, and of course hand-in-hand with the vision of the director. So parang dun lagi naka-base,” he said. “Pero slow burn ako eh. Kailangan bini-break-in ko, kailangan ninanamnam ko talaga siya bago ako totally mag-adjust sa character.”
He compared his roles from Linlang and What’s Wrong With Secretary Kim, both previous projects that he had done with Kim.
“Siguro kaya rin napapansin ni Kim when I was in Linlang medyo mabigat yung pinagdadaanan ng character dun. Ang bigat talaga ng buong storya. Sa Secretary Kim naman, nakakatawa naman ‘yung situations pero may mga trauma naman,” he recalled. “Dito naman, parang ganun din. I always base it on the character and the script, pati yung vision ng director namin.”
My Love Will Make You Disappear opens in cinemas starting March 26 under Star Cinema. Directed by Chad Vidanes and written by Prime Cruz. It stars Paulo Avelino, Kim Chiu, Wilma Doesnt, Lovely Abella, Benj Paras, Karina Bautista, Martin Escudero, and Migs Almendras.
