In the early 2000s, director James Cameron introduced actor Sam Worthington to the performance capture technology that would bring the world of "Avatar" to life.
With the release of "Avatar: Fire and Ash," the third film in the franchise that began in 2009, Worthington looked back on the moment he first encountered the technology.
"The promise to me was always that whatever I do will be protected. I can be quite subtle sometimes in my acting, so it was a case of, can you just exist as Jake?" Worthington told ABS-CBN News in an interview, referring to his character, the protagonist Jake Sully.
"When I first saw it rendered 20-odd years ago, Jim (Cameron) had held to his promise, and the system held, that's when I knew we could create something quite special," he added.
Cameron also recently hosted several media outlets, including ABS-CBN, for a live demonstration of how "Fire and Ash" was filmed.
Stephen Lang also reprises his villain role, but said his character experienced something new in this film.
"To kind of come to a certain appreciation as to what it is to be a father and see it in him, it's interesting," Lang said of Miles Quaritch.
"It humanizes him. It doesn't make him a good guy and nice guy or anything like that," he added.
"Fire and Ash" also stars Zoe Saldaña, Sigourney Weaver and Kate Winslet.
