A scene from ’Song of the Fireflies’
The Filipino musical-drama film "Song of the Fireflies" has submitted entries in six categories for consideration at the prestigious Golden Globe Awards.
The people behind the film announced Monday the development through a post on their Facebook post.
The submissions include the film itself for Best Motion Picture – Non-English Language, King Palisoc for Best Director (Motion Picture), and Sarge Lacuesta for Best Screenplay (Motion Picture).
The film also submitted "Alitaptap," performed by Star Magic artist Krystal Brimner and the Loboc Children's Choir, for Best Original Song (Motion Picture). The song was composed by National Artist Ryan Cayabyab with lyrics by Lacuesta.
Also under consideration are Morissette for Best Performance by a Female Actor in a Motion Picture – Drama, and Rachel Alejandro for Best Supporting Performance by a Female Actor in any Motion Picture.
In the post, the team behind the film noted that while actress Dolly de Leon was previously nominated at the Golden Globes for "Triangle of Sadness," no Filipino film has ever received a nomination at the prestigious Hollywood awards.
"We set our sights high and submitted 'Song of the Fireflies' for consideration at the Globes in [six] categories," they said.
"Please pray and wish us luck! God-willing, we envision the Loboc Children's Choir singing our main theme song at the ceremony this January," they added.
Released this 2025, "Song of the Fireflies" follows the origin story of the Loboc Children's Choir.
