The cast and production team of the Kapamilya series Sins of the Father emphasized how they aimed to use their platform to echo the public’s rally against corruption and social injustice.
During the finale week press conference, lead star Gerald Anderson and director FM Reyes shared that the series serves as their meaningful contribution to raising awareness and supporting Filipinos’ call for accountability and an end to corruption in the country.
“I will miss playing Samuel because of the impact on social awareness na naibigay ng show namin. It’s about corruption. It’s about scams and alam natin ang nangyayari sa bansa natin. Kumbaga, ito ang fight namin, ang paraan namin para makatulong — to bring awareness sa mga tao,” Gerald said.
He expressed, “This show set the benchmark aksi talagang marami po ang nauwing lesson from each characters. Sa buhay natin, maraming ups and downs, maraming challenges na darating pero kagaya ni Samuel laging lalaban especially nasa tama.”
Gerald also noted that he chooses projects that offer lessons and shed light on pressing realities in the Philippines.
“Sa nangyayari sa bansa natin, kanya-kanyang paraan iyan sa pagpapakita ng suporta and for me, my number one way of showing support is through the projects I do that’s why mas inspired ako na everyday kasi alam ko may ikukwento kami and may mapupulot ang mga tao rito,” he stated.

Director FM Reyes likewise highlighted the responsibility of storytellers and entertainment workers in amplifying relevant social issues.
“If your father makes a mistake, what is your responsibility as children? Hindi naman siguro tayo bulag sa nangyayari sa lipunan,” he said.
“This is our little way of presenting to the public, all of the perspective of such corruption in our lives — from the victims, from those who condone the scam business, from those who run the scamming and higit sa lahat it gave voice for those who are voiceless. This show tried its very best to provide a platform.”
In a previous interview with PUSH ABS-CBN, Gerald described the series as a major departure from his past roles, as it takes on a socially relevant crime-thriller theme.
“It’s a story that will shed awareness, because nangyayari talaga ito every day. Sabi ko nga kanina, at least may isang segment sa TV Patrol o sa TV5 (news) or sa ibang news channels about yung storyline namin. Just want to shed more social awareness sa nangyayari, and give them a quality product,” he shared.
Produced by JRB Creative Production, the finale of Sins of the Father follows the aftermath of Samuel’s (Gerald Anderson) escape from jail with the help of Agnes (Jessy Mendiola) and Johnny (RK Bagatsing) after being wrongfully accused of leading the Bakunawa scam syndicate, while Leah (Shaina Magdayao) bravely decides to expose her family’s deep involvement in various scam operations to protect her children. At the same time, Jacob (JC De Vera) seizes control of the Bakunawa group and orders the capture of Arissa (Francine Diaz), threatening Samuel’s family, as Enzo (Seth Fedelin) remains in grave danger as a hostage inside the scam warehouse.
