After filming the Metro Manila Film Fest entry Unmarry, a story of a couple unraveling through annulment, Zanjoe Marudo admits he hopes never to endure such heartbreak off-screen.
The actor is married to actress Ria Atayde. They tied the knot in 2024.
“Mahirap. Sa na-experience ko sa pelikula, ayoko ma-experience. Unang una, time, effort, energy, talagang wow,” he said in an interview held in Mandaluyong City.

“Para kang hinuhubaran. Sinusuwalat lahat ng experience mo, emotions mo, mali mo, nagtuturuan kayo eh. You are tearing apart a family, doon pa lang ang sakit sakit na,” said Angelica Panganiban, who also topbills the film.
“Nako, sobrang cute,” the actor said, regarding his son. “Masaya siya. Lalo ngayon. Nakakausap ko na, nakakalaro. Ako daw kamukha, pero sobrang puti.”
Marudo hopes to have more children, especially a daughter, in the future.
“Napag-uusapan siya. Sana, the more the marrier. Kailangan ko magka-girl,” he added.
According to Quantum Films producer Atty. Joji Alonso, the film was inspired by real-life separation stories from couples her firm has represented.
“Ang dami pinagdaanan ng law office namin. Nakita ko maraming kwento pwede magamit. from the many experiences. Marami nga nagsasabi na the day they got married was the happy day but the happiest was when they got their annulment,” she said.
