After decades of terrifying Filipino audiences, the iconic "Shake, Rattle & Roll" franchise is taking its screams to the next level with "Evil Origins" — which promises a fresh take on horror.
Regal Entertainment’s Keith Monteverde said the film pushes the boundaries of the beloved horror anthology.
“We wanted to do something different, something we’ve never done before — the three timelines,” he said during their MAMAW Run in Muntinlupa City, Saturday. “We had this idea that regardless of which generation, evil seems to come back. But for every generation, there are always people who can stand up.”
“This is about where it came from, what happened during the past, how it affects the present, and how it will affect the future,” Roselle Monteverde added.
The Monteverdes hope the uniquely Filipino storytelling in their film will bring back Filipinos to the cinema.
“It’s very important. As Filipinos, we should appreciate what we have. We should appreciate local,” Roselle said.
“I grew up watching Filipino films. I grew up seeing Filipinos on the big screen. We hope to bring that energy back,” Keith added.
Several members of the cast, including Raven Rigor, Althea Ablan, Matt Lozano, Sarah Edwards and Angelica Lao, also joined the fun run.
