'Quezon' film holds red carpet premiere

The cast of the upcoming historical drama “Quezon” is confident that moviegoers will leave theaters prouder to be Filipino after watching the film, which premieres on October 15.

MANILA -- The cast of the upcoming historical drama “Quezon” is confident that moviegoers will leave theaters prouder to be Filipino after watching the film, which premieres on October 15.

“Very proud [to be Filipino] right now. Regardless, despite, I am very proud. The creatives behind me, excellente! Beautiful, loving, generous, and kind, people who worked on this, we are on fire right now,” Jericho Rosales, who top bills the film, said during the red carpet premiere on Sunday night.

“Quezon” promises to showcase the brilliance of Filipino talent in filmmaking in every scene—from its visuals, its music to its powerful dialogue.

“We want Philippine cinema to be part of the wave right now, where local is slowly but surely competing with foreign films. Kailangan natin humabol,“ Karylle said. 

According to the cast, “Quezon,” the third installment of the “Bayaniverse,” is not only a story about a national leader but also a reminder of the values that define the Filipino spirit.

“It is such an important film, especially right now, I believe this is one of the most important films now. Because of its meaning. Revisiting history—the purpose of the film is a call to action, a movement,” Rosales explained.

The movie, under the direction of Jerrold Tarog, features a powerhouse ensemble that brings to life a pivotal chapter in Philippine history.

The cast included Romnick Sarmenta, Mon Confiado, Ketchup Eusebio, Arron Villaflor, and Nico Locco, among others.
