Following her success as the Pinoy Big Brother: Celebrity Collab Edition Big Winner, Mika Salamanca is now taking on her first-ever Metro Manila Film Festival (MMFF) entry Call Me Mother and her upcoming series The Secrets of Hotel 88 alongside her fellow PBB housemates.
During her launch as the new brand ambassador for J Spray Perfume, Mika told PUSH ABS-CBN that she feels both pressured and inspired as she transitions into acting.
"Sobra akong napressure. Pressured and inspired,” Mika expressed.

The Kapuso PBB Big Winner described her experience working with seasoned stars, including Vice Ganda and Nadine Lustre, in Call Me Mother. She said she felt grateful to work with them because of their professionalism and humility.
“Sa Call Me Mother hindi po ako ganoon sobrang napressure kasi yung kasama ko po doon sa pelikula like sila Meme Vice Ganda and Miss Nadine Lustre at lahat ng batikang actors na kasama ko po roon ang gagaling po nila but at the same time mayroon silang humility para ring tulungan yung mga stars na bago na tulad ko. Inaalalayan din talaga nila kaming umarte,” Mika said.
Mika also shared how excited she is to be part of the film, describing it as a fun yet heartwarming story that offers valuable lessons for both the youth and parents.
“Super funny niya but at the same time nakakatouch ng heart. Talagang madaming matutunan ang mga kabataan pati mga magulang sa Call Me Mother and ang daming matutunan ng mga tao dito. Yung mga kasama ko po dito, sobrang professional po nila and super sarap po nila katrabaho,” she told the press.

When it comes to her upcoming series The Secrets of Hotel 88, Mika admitted she feels more pressure to prove herself outside of PBB.
“Sa Hotel 88 naman, doon napi-pressure ako kasi ayaw ko po mabansagan na lumabas lang ng PBB na nagkaroon lang ng project kaya ako napressure po talaga na talaga umattend ng workshops. Mayroon po akong solo workshops na ako yung focus kasi sabi ko kailangan ko ibigay sa tao yung ine-expect po talaga nila kaya may pressure,” Mika told PUSH ABS-CBN.
The Secrets of Hotel 88 is another project produced by ABS-CBN and GMA starring the housemates from the successful Pinoy Big Brother: Celebrity Collab Edition.

Aside from her PBB duo Brent Manalo and her Pamilya De Guzman group (Klarisse De Guzman, Will Ashley, Esnyr, and Shuvee Etrata), Mika also revealed that her co-stars Xyriel Manabat and River Joseph are among those she wanted to work closely with in the series.
“Si Xyriel Manabat talaga. Agua Bendita pa lang sobrang galing talaga ni Xyriel kaya kahit sa loob ng Bahay ni Kuya sinasabi na namin na ang galing galing niya. Nasampolan nga ako noon sa loob na yung isang task niya hindi ko alam na task pala kasi umiiyak iyak siya and ganoon siya kagaling. Siyempre si River din kasi he is one of my closest sa loob ng bahay,” she stated.
When asked about her preferred acting genre, Mika said she hopes to take on heavy drama roles to challenge herself as an actress, saying: “Gusto ko po yung heavy drama kasi gusto ko talagang machallenge sa acting.”

Looking ahead, Mika expressed her excitement for the series’ upcoming lock-in shoot, saying it will be more comfortable since she and her co-stars already share a strong bond from their PBB days.
“Hotel 88 po and next year na po siya. Sobrang excited po ako kasi yung lock in po namin hindi na siya magiging kapaan pa kasi sanay na kami sa isa't isa. Isa rin po sa kina-e-excite ko rin po is kung paano ang dynamics namin lahat kapag nagtatrabaho na. Sa workshop, nakikita ko po pero kung paano na kapag talaga umaacting na kami, kung paano namin dadalhin yung isa’t isa, yung dialogues din namin,” she expressed during the presscon.
Mika said that viewers can look forward to the chemistry and dynamics of their group: “Excited din po ako na matuto sa kanila. Exciting din po yung match up namin sobrang interesting na kung paano kami binuo and yung mix and match.”
