R&B newcomer Jemay Santiago shared how much Canadian singer-songwriter Justin Bieber has inspired her to be a musician. In the June 3 Get To Know episode, the "1A" singer shared several facts about herself, including her past as an English teacher.
Jemay rose to popularity on social media as a content creator before shifting her focus to her music career.

She was raised by her adoptive parents and later moved to Thailand, where she completed high school. She recalled how she already had a steady living in the Southeast Asian country, but decided to follow her dream of becoming a musician.
“Settled na ako sa Thailand–– English teacher na ako umuwi pa ako ng Pilipinas just to sign [with] a record label. I mean, stable na yung income ko and maayos na yung buhay ko dun pero nilet go ko lahat yun. Even yung pag cocontent ko para mabago yung algorithm ko, matransition ko siya into music,” she explained.
She credited her parents for her learning about music at such a young age, but it was the Canadian singer-songwriter that heavily influenced her passion for her career.
“He’s the main reason why I’m in the music industry. Sobrang laki ng influence niya sa akin. Siya yung inspiration ko all throughout my entire music journey. I’m a huge fan,” she expressed.
Jemay noted how in love she is with Justin’s overall artistry–– from his music down to his physical appearance. For her, she will always be a fan of the Canadian pop star.
“Hailey Bieber mukhang ako na papalit sa posisyon mo… Actually, tibo na ako nun sorry sa term. Actually, bata pa naman ramdam ko na ano na ako very masculine person na ako and nung time na yun, umusbong na si Justin Bieber and I really love his music, I love he looks like, his style, everything about him. Just a huge fan. Justin Bieber pa rin,” she added.
Meanwhile, Jemay’s latest single, "1A," is now out on all digital streaming platforms.
