Up-and-coming OPM band ALYSON is a testament to how friendship and music can go well together. In the recent episode of PUSH Get To Know, the five-piece band shared more facts about themselves through each other’s lenses.
ALYSON is composed of Pio, Marcus, Miguel, Easel, and Luis.
Marcus, the band’s drummer, shared that their friendship goes way back as he met Pio, Luis, and Miguel back when they were in grade school and Easel from four years ago. Despite the band’s keyboardist being relatively new to their circle, the four have welcomed him with open arms–– proving how powerful music could really be.
“We met in grade 6, the four of us— Me, Pio, Luis, and Miguel. We met in grade 6. And, we've been playing music ever since then until now,” Marcus expressed.
Since their formation, the band has produced several songs and albums that have been well-loved by OPM enthusiasts. Marcus recalled that they consider their albums, especially the first one, to be among their biggest achievements.
“When we were in our entire college life, our entire school life, we never finished a full album. And, in our adulthood, we were like, we might as well do it, because we may never do it again. So, our first big achievement, making an album. And, we did it twice,” he shared.
When asked about their dreams about the band’s future, Pio made sure to put their musicality on top while being able to go on tour abroad.
“Honestly, talagang gumawa pa ng magandang music na very authentic. And, makarinig, lahat ng tao. Hindi lang dito sa Pilipinas, pero overseas din. Talagang become one of those acts na talagang maaalala,” Pio admitted.
Apart from the friendship that they’ve built over the years and the passion for music that all five members have, Pio revealed that it’s their ambition that they consider as their driving force when times get challenging.
“I guess all of us are very ambitious. So, talagang. Actually, kalaban namin, sarili namin. That's something that we tell ourselves a lot.. Kung hindi siya as good as the last one, ‘yun kalaban namin, sarili namin,” he maintained.
