Vice Ganda reaffirmed his support for Leni Robredo amid calls urging the latter to consider a presidential bid in 2028. This is despite Leni's recent statement that she will no longer run for a national position.
“Well, I’m still rooting for Leni," Vice said as reported by the Philippine Star.
He went on to explain that decisions about running for public office are often influenced by a greater sense of purpose.
"Marami namang nagsabi na kung sila lang, hindi na sila tatakbo, pero dahil sa clamor at sa kagustuhan nilang makapagsilbi. Kasi ang desisyon ng pagtakbo at pagiging pangulo ay hindi naman desisyon para sa sarili. Kaya maraming tao ang naiiba ’yung desisyon nila kasi nare-realize nilang this is not just about me," he highlighted.
Leni, who is now serving as the mayor of Naga City after being the country's Vice President, earlier clarified her plans during an April 21 interview in Bicol with RMN dwNX Naga, saying she has no intention of seeking a national post again.
“I am certain about myself that I will no longer run for any national position,” she said.
Instead, Leni shared that she is eyeing a second term as mayor of Naga City.
Meanwhile, in an interview in December 2025 with Karen Davila, Vice also addressed his own stance on politics, saying he has no plans to run for public office.
"Hindi siya bukal sa kalooban ko, hindi siya ang gusto ng puso ko," he said, explaining that entering public service would require him to fully step away from his showbiz career.
He went on: "Kung pipiliin ko 'yong public service, kailangan ko i-devote buong buhay ko sa public service."

Vice also shared why he continues to speak up on political and social matters, even on the noontime show It's Showtime.
"I'm given the platform, opportunity, responsibility to use my voice not just for myself," he remarked.
The box-office star also explained that staying silent on important issues would go against his personal values.
"Hindi siya kaya ng konsensya ko kasi paano 'yung mga nakapaligid sa 'kin? At hindi rin kinakaya ng kaluluwa, konsensya ko 'yung araw-araw na masang Pilipino na nakakausap ko sa Showtime tapos wala ako pakialam sa kanila. Kasi sila may pakialam sa 'kin, kaya may pakialam din ako sa kanila," he said.
