Cedrick Juan embraces fatherhood by showing up — not just as a dad, but as a supportive partner to his wife, Kate Alejandrino.
For the actor, being a good father begins with being a good husband.
“Napakahalaga ng support ng husband sa post-partum stage. Kailangan talaga supportahan ang asawa. Kasi grabe pinagdadaanan nila for nine months,” he said in an interview at the 28th KBP Golden Dove Awards in Pasay City on Thursday.

Juan and Alejandrino welcomed their baby boy, Jose Rocio Likha, last June 18. They shared the news on social media on June 26 —Juan’s birthday.
“Unang iyak mo pa lang namangha na ako sa tinig mo. Maraming nangyayari sa paligid pero nakatitig lang ako sayo. Puno ng galak ang puso at kaluluwa dahil sa wakas ay mahahawakan, mahahalikan, mayayakap at mabubuhat ka na namin anak. We will RELEARN life with you,” they wrote.
Juan also celebrated another milestone that day, winning the Best Actor award at the Golden Dove.
“We are planning sa weekend siguro. Hopefully with my loved ones,” he said.
He expressed gratitude for the smooth and swift delivery, sharing that he stayed by his wife’s side the entire time — and encouraged other fathers to do the same.
“iba 'pag nanganganak ang nanay. Napakahalaga ng support ng asawa. Kailangan ng moral support. Hindi kasi madali pinagdaanan nila. Kahit during and matapos, hindi matatapos responsibilities,” he said. “From this day, ang mahalaga magtutulungan ang mag-asawa.”
The “GomBurZa” star said he’s still adjusting to the early days of fatherhood but is cherishing every moment.
“Kagabi pa lang ako nakatulog… Sobrang grabe noong unang iyak nakatitig lang ako. Ang dami nangyayari. Gusto mo lang enjoy-in. 'Yun 'yung best role na gagampanan ko bilang ama and tao,” he said. “Kahit gaano ka-ready, mararanasan mo lang 'pag andyan na. Gusto ko ma-enjoy bawat moment. Ang bilis kasi ng stage.”
