Alas Pilipinas debutant Niña Ytang. Volleyball World
CANDON, Ilocos Sur — Niña Ytang has been performing well in her debut stint for Alas Pilipinas.
Ytang, 24, in her latest outing, was second in scoring for the Philippines, tallying eight points on seven attacks and one block against South Korea in the 2026 AVC Women’s Cup on Tuesday at the Candon City Arena here.
Her performance wasn’t left unnoticed, that even Korean women’s volleyball captain Kang Sohwi said that she was impressive.
“Number 9, the middle blocker,” answered Sohwi when asked which Alas Pilipinas player impressed her the most.

Korea, though, fended off the hometown heroes, 25-16, 25-18, 25-22, dealing the latter’s second loss of the tourney presented by the PSC, FIVB, AVC, Volleyball World and Candon City headed by Mayor Eric Singson.
The University of the Philippines product humbly took the compliment, saying she is just doing what she can for the country.

“I must be doing something right kaya siguro ganun. Pero for me naman I’m just doing my best, doing everything I can para sa bayan,” said Ytang in an interview with One Sports and Cignal, responding to the praise.
Ytang pulled out of the PVL Draft to focus on national team duties just before her AVC stint.
