MANILA (UPDATED) — Lams Lamina emerged as the number one overall pick of the 2026 Premier Volleyball League (PVL) Rookie Draft in the proceedings held Wednesday at the Novotel Manila Araneta City in Quezon City.

Galeries Tower selected Lamina, casting unto her the hopes of a franchise aiming to break the slump and reach greater heights, starting in the upcoming 2026 PVL On Tour.

"For me, siyempre fulfilling kasi wow, ako yung isa sa mga napili nila, ng team Galeries. It shows 'yung trust na ako pa talaga 'yung napili. Very happy and very grateful," said Lamina as she spoke to the press.

The Highrisers claimed the first slot of the draft proper after winning the lottery with a 30-percent chance, second to Capital1 which had, by then, higher odds at 40%.

The Solar Spikers, meanwhile, selected Detdet Pepito of University of Santo Tomas with the second pick, setting the stage for a reunion with her good friend, star open spiker Bella Belen, who was also last year's top pick.

"Actually, mixed emotions pero sobrang grateful and thankful lang talaga ako kay Lord na pinapangarap ko lang makapasok dito sa PVL and now, number two pick," said Pepito.

Choco Mucho picked Far Eastern University setter Tin Ubaldo, expected to join the rotation of Deanna Wong and Tia Andaya. Akari had passed immediately in the first round, forgoing the fifth overall spot, that went to sister team Nxled which secured the services of Irah Jaboneta.

The following have also drafted several rookies, respectively: Jonna Perdido to Farm Fresh; Fianne Ariola to PLDT; Barbie Jamili to Creamline.

Khy Cepada went to Capital1 to kick off the second round, while Ann Asis was selected by Galeries, and Ela Raagas is now a Foxy.

Only a total of 11 players were selected, resulting to 27 players becoming free agents. Teams now have exclusive rights to players which they selected in the Draft, lasting for three years.
