MANILA — De La Salle University standouts Angel Canino, Amie Provido, and Shevana Laput will not join the Alas Pilipinas pool for the AVC Women's Cup 2026.
Canino announced their decision Thursday in an Instagram Story. They cited a grueling campaign in the UAAP Season 88 women's volleyball tournament, where they completed a perfect run from the two-round eliminations to the Finals, gifting La Salle its 13th crown.
“To be invited to the National Team training pool is a privilege I never take for granted, and playing for the Philippine flag is the highest honor,” said Canino. “However, coming off the high intensity of UAAP Season 88, Amie, Shevana, and I have decided to prioritize our physical recovery.”
Canino said they already conveyed their decision to the Philippine National Volleyball Federation (PNVF), the governing body for the sport in the country.

“We first need to let our bodies heal and reset so that we can give our best to the game,” said Canino.
“We’ve communicated this to the PNVF, and while we won’t be on the court this time, our hearts are with the team as they compete in the AVC Women’s Cup 2026.”
