MANILA — PLDT needs to stay hungry in order to keep its position on top.

That's now the case for the two-time Premier Volleyball League (PVL) titlist as it took back-to-back championships—the 2025 On Tour and 2025 Invitational—in perfect fashion.

There were no meltdowns whatsoever for the High Speed Hitters. They sustained their pristine record, beating teams including the youthful Kobe Shinwa University, which no one was able to beat, even seasoned squads Creamline, Chery Tiggo, and Cignal.

With targets on their backs in the upcoming PVL conference, coach Rald Ricafort asserted the need for the team to continuously seek volleyball glory.

"Moving forward, kailangan talaga namin i-face ‘yung conference na kami ‘yung nagugutom pa rin," said Ricafort on Sunday, moments after clinching their second title in a row.

PLDT ace Savi Davison echoed this, saying that they should not become "comfortable" with where they are now.

And for them to do that, the High Speed Hitters need to look back on the hardships they experienced to reach this point.

"I think the hard part now is just not to get comfortable. A lot of people make it great and then kind of fall off. So, I think our job from here on out is not to kind of look back and see how hard [it was]," said the Invitational Most Valuable Player (MVP).

With its core currently intact, the hopeful Ricafort aims to maximize that opportunity.

"Wala talaga siyang assurance, kung gaano kami katagal magsasama-sama. ‘Yun ‘yung binabanggit ko lang sa kanila, habang kung sino ‘yung nandiyan susulitin talaga namin," he added.
