MANILA — The Philippines is now bracing for an Egypt side riding on a momentum after a four-set triumph over a higher-ranked Iran at the 2025 FIVB Volleyball Men's World Championship.
The Egyptians bucked a second set loss en route to a 25-17, 16-25, 25-23, 25-20 win over the Iranians on Sunday at the Mall of Asia Arena.

Before their Pool A opener, Iran was at No. 13, significantly higher than World No. 23 Egypt—although the former is playing without the services of their star, Amin Esmaeilnezhad.

Alas Pilipinas Men, hoping to secure their first win in the 32-nation contest and make the country proud, are tasked to overcome Egypt, now ranked 20th in the globe after the win.
Both squads will take the stage on Tuesday, September 16, as Pool A action resumes at the same Pasay venue.
Meanwhile, in Pool C, Argentina has scored the first reverse sweep of the tournament, clinching a 19-25, 18-25, 25-22, 25-22, 15-11 win over Finland, while Belgium blasted Ukraine, 25-16, 25-17, 25-22, in Pool F.
Sunday games are still ongoing at both MOA Arena and Araneta Coliseum.
