MANILA — Poland, the current top nation in men's volleyball, is off to a flyer at the 2025 FIVB Volleyball Men's World Championship.
Poland rallied past 21st-ranked Romania at the Araneta Coliseum, 34-32, 25-15, 25-19, to conclude Day 2 of the 32-nation contest on Saturday, clinching their first win in Pool B.

Team captain Gyorgy Grozer led three players in double-digit scoring with 13 points dealt on seven attacks, three blocks, and three aces.
Anton Brehme added 11 points (8 attacks, 2 blocks, 1 ace), Tobias Krick listed 10 points (9 attacks, 1 block), as Erik Rohrs made his presence felt with nine markers (9 attacks, 1 ace).
Poland is hoping to secure another world championship, as it last won in 2018.

In the same group, the Netherlands also gained a 1-0 advantage as the Dutch overcame a Set 3 blip en route to a 25-18, 25-23, 26-28, 25-23 triumph over Qatar at the same Quezon City venue.
Pool E also saw action today at the Mall of Asia Arena in Pasay City, with Bulgaria outlasting Germany, including a super extended Set 1, 40-38, 25-22, 25-20. Meanwhile, Slovenia eased past Chile, 25-19, 25-13, 25-16.
