MANILA – The Commission on Elections (Comelec) has teamed up with the Premier Volleyball League (PVL) to expand its voter registration campaign.

The poll body had a "Special Register Anytime Anywhere Program" (SRAP) booth at the PhilSports Arena on Thursday, August 7, as the PVL kicked off its quarterfinals wars on this game date, seeking to cater volleyball fans and have them register to vote.

The SRAP booth offered several services such as new registrations, transfer from overseas post to local, correction of entries or change of name and status, as well as reactivation of registration records.

Comelec's Garcia said it's important to tap those who are into sports as he lauded the popularity of volleyball.

Garcia shared that he's elated with the populace's response as the new voters registration reached the 1.2-million mark.

Their target for the 10-day registration was just one million, Garcia stated, but the outcome had already breached their expectations.

Kasi ang sabi natin, sana one million ang mag-register for ten days of registration. Alam nating impossible 'yan. But again, na-reach natin 'yung one million nung isang araw. And then kahapon 1.2 million—that's really so impossible, so extraordinary," said Garcia.

The Comelec has handed over a certificate of appreciation to the league for its hosting of the booth.
