MANILA -- The Creamline Cool Smashers are eyeing a strong start to the PVL on Tour in Vigan, Ilocos Sur this Sunday, even with head coach Sherwin Meneses acknowledging that they only had a short time to prepare for the competition.
The PVL on Tour brings the professional league to various provinces, starting with Vigan on June 22 and 23 before heading for Batangas on June 28 and 29. They will return to Metro Manila, at the Filoil EcoOil Arena, on July 1, and make stops in Isabela and Iloilo as well.
For Creamline, their schedule starts with a showdown against Capital1 at the Chavit Coliseum on Sunday, followed by a game against Akari in the same venue on Monday.
"Actually nabigla lang din kami kasi medyo late kami nag-start ng training, I think wala pang isang buwan," said Meneses of their preparation for the PVL on Tour. "Pero 'yung schedule binigay sa amin sa Ilocos, so kahit papaano nakapag-prepare naman kami."
"Yung Creamline naman, every tournament, kahit anong tournament, basta may game, binibigay naman 'yung 100% ng Creamline. Kung ano 'yung resulta, thankful lang kami," he also said.
"Pero every game talaga pinaghahandaan namin. This Ilocos tour, two games kami doon, so nag-prepare kami kahit papaano, kahit maiksi."

For Creamline captain Alyssa Valdez, the PVL on Tour will be a good way to build up for the new season, where they are in an unfamiliar situation falling short in the 2024-25 PVL All-Filipino Conference, where they lost to PetroGazz in the finals.
"I think we have a different pressure right now coming into this conference, where we actually fell short from the last conference. So ibang-iba 'yung motivation ng mga tao ngayon," she said.
"But in the end, I think we have to stick by our mantra -- to just give the best in every game, and siyempre, kailangan lagi kaming good vibes. 'Yun ang pinaka-importante, and we have to always go back to that."
