MANILA – Barangay Ginebra will have to continue the PBA 50 Commissioner's Cup without the services of Jayson David.
Ginebra head coach confirmed David suffered a torn anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) on his left knee.
"Yes. We just got word that Jayson [David] does have an ACL," he told reporters on Friday following their 118-113 loss to the NLEX Road Warriors.
"So he's gonna get I think it's two weeks immobilized and then he's gonna have surgery," Cone added.
In their 110-93 win over the Macau Black Knights last week, David exited in the 11:12 mark of the second quarter.
The 29-year-old Pampanga native suffered the injury while heading to the basket, where his left knee gave way.
He was visibly in pain while holding on to his left knee, before being stretchered out of the court.
The injury of David comes on the heels of the return of big man Isaac Go, who just recovered from a knee injury after over a year.
David has been one of the key players of Ginebra's bench mob, following his stellar outings for the Gin Kings last season.
