MANILA – A day before the Magnolia Hotshots begin their PBA 50 Commissioner's Cup campaign, the team announced it has tapped a new import.
The Hotshots welcomed 6-foot-9 Nuni Omot of South Sudan on Wednesday in a post on its social media pages.
Omot replaces 27-year-old reinforcement Terrell Brown-Soares, just days ahead of Magnolia's opening assignment in the conference.

The 31-year-old forward is a product of Baylor University, who played in the NBA G League after going undrafted in the 2018 draft.
Since then, Omot took his talents to Germany, North Macedonia, the Netherlands, Turkey, Poland, Puerto Rico, Egypt, France, China, Israel and Rwanda.

He last played with Al Riyadi Club Beirut in the FIBA WASL West Asia League where he averaged 21.8 points, 5 rebounds and 2.8 assists.
Among Omot's career highlights was when he suited up for South Sudan in the 2024 Paris Olympics, marking the country's debut in the Summer Games.
He was vital to South Sudan's maiden campaign in the Olympics, scoring the country's two points in their 90-97 win over Puerto Rico.
Omot played in the Manila leg of the 2023 FIBA World Cup qualifiers, where he led South Sudan to finish as the best African country to earn them a ticket to the Paris Games.
He averaged 16.7 points, 3.3 rebounds and 2.7 assists in the Olympics.
Omot is expected to see action when Magnolia takes on the Phoenix Fuelmasters on Friday at the Ninoy Aquino Stadium in Manila.
