Filipina tennis star Alex Eala triumphed in straight sets against Dutch Arianne Hartono in the W100 Bengaluru in India.
The Filipina star banked on her dominating groundstrokes to take the 6-2, 6-1 victory for her first match in the W100 Bengaluru Main Draw.
Hartono is a 28-year old with a WTA ranking of 163, while 19-year old Eala is ranked 136.
The new ranking is Eala’s career-high.
Eala’s next competitor is Dalila Jakupovic of Slovenia in the next round of the women’s singles today, January 23.
Jakupovic is ranked 191 by the WTA.
