Filipina tennis star Alex Eala fell to Sijia Wei of China in the semifinals of Canberra International women’s singles tournament in Australia Friday.
She exited the tournament after a 7-5, 6-2 loss against Wei.
The 21-year-old Wei is ranked no. 134 by the WTA, above Eala’s 147.
The Canberra International marked Eala’s first WTA125 semifinals appearance and main draw of the year.
With the semis exit, she shifts her focus to qualifying for the Australian Open happening on January 6.
