BAGUIO CITY — Thousands of protesters, including from the youth sector, joined representatives of the Catholic Church in Baguio City on Sunday to call for an end to corruption in the Philippines.

Protesters, whose ranks included students and members of indigenous peoples' communities, started arriving in front of the Baguio Convention Center around 8 a.m. to express their anger over the poor delivery of services.

That includes the loss of public funds that went to "ghost" and substandard flood control projects of the Department of Public Works and Highways.

Although they represented different sectors, protesters had a united call: For all corrupt government officials and employees to be held accountable. 

They also called for the recovery of money lost to corruption in the flood control projects.
