MANILA — Two active police officers assigned to the Caloocan City Police Station were arrested in a buy-bust operation after they allegedly sold firearms to an undercover operative, authorities said Thursday.

The operation was carried out at around 5:30 a.m. along Riles Compound in Barangay 5, Caloocan City by operatives of the Caloocan City Police Station, with support from the station's Intelligence Unit, IDMS, and several sub-stations.

Based on the report, the suspects were caught after allegedly completing the illegal sale of firearms to a civilian poseur-buyer during the operation.

Seized during the operation were two PNP-issued 9mm pistols, a .38-caliber revolver, a 12-gauge shotgun, several magazines and live ammunition, marked buy-bust money, two cellular phones, and two motorcycles.

Police said the confiscated firearms will undergo ballistic examination to determine whether they were used in previous shooting incidents.

Investigators will also trace the ownership and origin of the recovered weapons.

The two officers will face charges for violations of Sections 28 and 29 of Republic Act No. 10591, or the Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act, which prohibit the illegal sale and possession of firearms.

Authorities said administrative cases will likewise be filed against the two policemen as the investigation continues.
