MANILA — Cardinal Pablo Virgilio David was among the Church leaders who attended the 'Trillion Peso March' at the People Power Monument in Quezon City on Sunday, September 21.
Also at the proteste were Kidapawan Bishop Jose Colin Bagaforo, San Carlos Bishop Gerardo Alminaza, Novaliches Bishop Roberto Gaa and Bontoc-Lagawe Bishop Valentine Dimoc, according to CBCP News.
David, who is also president of the Catholic Bishops' Conference of the Philippines, had called on the Catholic faithful to support the gathering, which he said "is not a political spectacle, but a moral stand." He also encouraged similar activities elsewhere.

"We must resist opportunists who exploit our outrage for selfish gain, while reminding our leaders that accountability must be pursued through due process, within the bounds of our Constitution and the rule of law. Our purpose is not to destabilize, but to strengthen our democracy," he also said in a call to action posted Saturday.
David said that beyond the stolen money, corruption in the flood control projects is also "about stolen futures: flooded homes, poisoned lands, wasted opportunities for our children."
The CBCP called on Congress, the Independent Commission for Infrastructure and other agencies to expedite the process of getting accountability over corruption.

"Our people deserve concrete solutions—not empty rhetoric, not endless political grandstanding, not the usual delaying tactics. Enough is enough! We will no longer accept that this investigation simply die a natural death, like so many before it that eventually ended in political accommodations and compromises."
