Nicolas Torre III on Monday said he is ready to listen to the State of the Nation Address of President Ferdinand Marcos Jr.
He said he is confident that the PNP was able to comply with all the instructions of the President, including additional police visibility and faster police response.
"Aantayin natin kung ano gusto iutos ng presidente, pero sa ngayon naman nagawa na namin ang mga una niyang directives - he wants more police visibility, he wants quicker response... Nagawa na natin yun," Torre told reporters ahead of the president's speech.
When asked if there are any threats to the SONA event, Torre said the PNP is ready for any eventualities.
"Napaghandaan naman natin lahat, we want to be optimistic," said Torre.
When asked about his supposed boxing schedule with Acting Davao City Mayor Sebastian “Baste” Duterte yesterday, he said he is happy with the charity boxing match even though his rival did not show up.
"We're happy, hindi naman tayo napagod eh. Review n'yo na lang sa Facebook at tsaka sa YouTube ang mga sinabi diyan kung anong gusto n'yong marinig eh palagay ko andiyan na lahat," Torre said.
In terms of relief, Torre shared that the PNP has distributed 1,400 food packs to the residents of Baseco in Tondo, Manila. The food packs were funded by the money raised from the match.
"Nagsimula na tayong mag-distribute ng mga goods natin. Kahapon ay naka-1,400 na tayo sa Baseco (Tondo, Manila). Ang iba ay ibinigay na namin sa DSWD for them to distribute sa ating mga kababayan," said Torre.
Torre believes there is no need to reschedule the match with Duterte.
"Charity match yan eh, fundraising yan eh parang... I don't see any point kung uulitin pa yan, napakarami na ng mga sinabi natin at mahaba-haba na ang oras na ibinigay natin so I don't think still viable at kung may sense pa rin sa bagay na yan," he explained.
