Petpreneurs and veterinarians took center stage alongside adorable dogs and cats to highlight the latest innovations in the pet care industry at the recent International Pet Summit Philippines, which was held at the SMX Convention Center in Pasay City.
Initiated by Pure Choice Pet Care, the event also brought together pet owners and lovers to remind them of the importance and benefits of high-quality and safe pet food.
“Sasabihin nila, ‘I go for this brand kasi mahal and palaging ito ang hinahanap.’ Ang akin naman, as long as ‘yung cost ng dog food or the cat food is mababa, or puwede rin mataas, pero ‘yung quality na ibibigay niya sa dog is very good. Hindi,” said veteran veterinarian Dr. May Rulibeth Javier.

According to Javier, consistent digestion is a sign that pet food is safe for animals.
So, tiningnan ko kung ang dumi niyan ay ‘yung consistent ba,” she pointed out.
She added, “Gusto ba kaagad ng aso iyan? Kinain niya ngayon. Kinabukasan ayaw na niya?”
The seasoned veterinarian also told pet owners not to combine meat products with pet food, saying, “Hindi po puwede kasi magkakaroon ng high protein. Meat products din itong dog food, ‘yung dry food. Halimbawa adobo iyan. Bawal ‘yun. So magkakaroon ng problema ‘yung aso niyan.
“But when you start with meat alone na binoil lang [with no dog food], mas safe ‘yun tapos hahaluan mo lang ng gulay,” she added.
She then explained, “Huwag mong paghahaluin.
“Paghahalu-haluin nila at ipapakain. Bigla na lang ‘yung animal hindi na maka-ihi or kaya bigla na lang ‘yung animal magda-diarrhea,” she added.

Meanwhile, Nathaniel Ladica, trade marketing officer for United Baarde Inc., Pure Choice Pet Care's parent company, stated that their products contain low salt and sodium.
