Following the special back-to-back birthday episodes of “Kapamilya Deal or No Deal” to celebrate the birthday of host Luis Manzano, the time has come for the lucky stars to test their luck and see if they could win the P1 million top prize. And it was rapper Bassilyo—assigned to briefcase number 1—who was the first one to step in as the player, as seen in the May 2 episode.

The episode commenced with Luis quizzing the “lucky stars” about the toughest decisions or choices they’ve made recently. Famous drag artist Arizona Brandy was the first one to answer the question by imparting in jest that she actually had a hard time deciding if she would have bangs since she might look like fellow “lucky star” Inah Evans—which the latter took lightheartedly.

For the mother-and-son tandem of Mommy Ganda and Lester, who are more popular in the online world as “The Aguinaldos,” the latter said that it was when he decided to quit his corporate life to pursue being a full-time content creator. Mommy Ganda, on the other hand, confessed about imploring God to bless her with a foreigner as a husband.

Comedian Long Mejia was the last one to share, imparting in jest that he actually found it difficult to reject fellow lucky star and content creator Asia Yoona, whom he joked was persistently ‘pestering’ him backstage for his number. Asia played along by confiding that she was just jealous of the closeness of Long with Mommy Ganda.

As the game began, Luis asked the “Deal or No Deal” girls to spin the “lucky wheel” to determine who among the lucky stars would play for this episode—and it stopped on number 1, which was assigned to Bassilyo.

When asked how he felt about being the first "lucky star” to play, he admitted that it saddened him, as he had hoped to watch the others take their turns—or even win the jackpot. Still, he accepted his fate and complied when the host asked him to perform an impromptu rap about his situation. Quizzed about what he would do with the P1 million jackpot, he said that he would donate it all to the poor, quipping that it was himself who he was referring to.

Instead of sticking to his briefcase, the rapper-actor from Marikina City, who popularized the songs “Panaginip” and “Lord, Patawad,” opted to go for number 11, which was being held by actress Aubrey Miles. He had a promising start, as the highest amount he had opened in the first round was P100,000, while the lowest was P200, which prompted Banker to offer him P111,000. But he refused to be easily swayed by the offer, as his impressive beginning had given him hope.

Before proceeding to the second round, Luis asked him regarding his experience working with the one and only “Kapamilya Primetime King” Coco Martin, whom he got to work alongside with both on “FPJ’s Ang Probinsyano” and “FPJ’s Batang Quiapo.” According to Bassilyo, the acclaimed actor-director had taught him and their castmates the importance of professionalism by being punctual at work and maintaining a kind attitude toward their colleagues.

Bassilyo then chose to finally open his original briefcase, which was revealed to contain P5,000. His streak of opening relatively low amounts continued until the P1 million was opened in the following round, which was in the number 20 briefcase assigned to singer-dancer Jeremy Glinoga.

He managed to quite bounce back in the succeeding rounds, especially when he was able to wipe out the row of lower amounts, which upset Banker so much. Despite opening larger amounts towards the end of his game, he still chose to believe in his choice and said “NO DEAL” to Banker’s P212,000 offer.

The determination and courage shown by Bassilyo paid off as his briefcase was revealed to contain P500,000. His fellow lucky stars expressed their joy for him, whom he thanked for their all-out support. The episode ended with the lucky stars yelling “balato” as Luis asked him to hold his winning briefcase.
