In “Blood vs Duty,” each of the characters will find themselves in a life-changing dilemma of whether to follow their innate identities or their lawful roles. The same is true for SPO1 Usman Sabdani, who must decide whether to honor his duty as a police officer or to fight for the rights of his misunderstood Muslim community.
In the April 16 episode of Kapamilya Chat, Ejay Falcon took a short break from his role as Usman Sabdani to swiftly discuss his personal responsibilities outside of “Blood vs Duty.”
For his friends, Ejay explained that he’s usually an adviser or mentor who is willing to lend help as much as he can. He also likes keeping a tight circle of friends, consisting of the ones he was close to long before his acting career began.
When asked what the greatest secret to a strong friendship is, Ejay responded by saying, “Mamahalin ka nila kung saan ka mahina [at] kung saan ka malakas.”
As for addressing his household duties, the Kapamilya actor cheerfully shared that he’s in charge of taking care of all his farm animals and pets. Ejay takes pleasure living his provincial life at a farmhouse in Oriental Mindoro, and he currently nurtures about 35 tortoises alongside chickens, ducks, horses, sheep, and other bird species permitted by DENR.
Back to his profession as actor, Ejay would constantly offer young talents encouragement, uplifting them with his past experiences during his early years in ABS-CBN. “Kinekwento ko sa kanila… [Dapat] sobrang [appreciative] sila sa lahat ng meron sila,” he added.
Ejay also makes it a point to remind his younger peers to respect and to listen to other artists, especially those with years of experience. “Makinig at irespeto ang mga artistang nauna sa atin… Kahit mas sikat ka pa or mas bida [ang role],” he stated.
He elaborated that one should never be unprepared on set and should adhere to the director’s guidance as well as take the chance to uplift his castmates. “Maging good example, napaka-importante [ito] sa mga baguhang artista… Nakikipagkuwentuhan [din ako] sa mga pinanghihinaan ng loob,” he remarked.
Having said that, Ejay also remembered his performance in the drama-romance teleserye “Katorse,” with Erich Gonzales, Enchong Dee, and Xian Lim, acknowledging his struggles as a rookie actor at the time. In that situation, Director Malu Sevilla did not give up on him, whose advice he has engraved in his heart up to this day.
While pursuing a career as an actor, Ejay didn’t expect to become one, as he had been more of a fan and was filled with anxieties. Soon after being persistent in workshops and acting projects, he ultimately came to love the art of acting, not even noticing the long hours of filming in the past.
“Galing akong probinsya… Alam ko ‘yung pakiramdam na hindi ako mayaman [at] feeling ko hindi ako kagwapuhan… Nung minahal ko na ‘yung acting, kahit 30 hours [na filming] masaya,” he mentioned.
In his role as a husband, Ejay strives to be a good provider to his wife, making certain that he dedicates time for her and maintains clear communication regardless of how busy his schedule is.
For his solid supporters, Ejay showed sincere gratitude as they had been with him even back in his “Pinoy Big Brother” days.
