As we count down the days to the "Your Face Sounds Familiar" Grand Showdown, the seven celebrity performers—Rufa Mae Quinto, Alexa Ilacad, Jason Dy, Akira Morishita, Jarlo Base, Dia Mate, and duo JM Dela Cerna and Marielle Montellano—looked back on their journeys on the show.
Having gone through a total of 12 rounds of transformations, there's certainly a lot the celebrity performers will be missing about the show and each other.
Even as she delivered her sentiments with humor, the ‘sepanx’ was real for Rufa Mae, who shared that she will miss the entire cast, especially because "YFSF" marks her first regular project on ABS-CBN in about eight years since she became part of the sitcom "Home Sweetie Home."
"Mami-miss ko 'yung samahan natin," she said, before quipping, "No'ng umpisa ang saya saya natin tapos no'ng gitna parang wala nang nag-uusap." It only means they’ve all started taking their assignments more seriously as the weeks went on, and that they’ve become busier as opportunities multiplied for all of them because of "YFSF."
Dia, for her part, expressed gratitude for her castmates who became both friends and role models to her in terms of performing. The show brought her many firsts—a far cry from the world she was used to as a beauty queen. But she's thankful to have co-performers who set the bar high, as they unknowingly pushed her to give her best every single time. "Because of you, guys, I feel like I've become a better performer... I'll miss all of you," she told her castmates.
For Jarlo, every preparation was truly one for the books—from practicing songs at home to sitting through the actual prosthetics application. The entire process was especially memorable for Jason as well, given that the songs he tackled on the show were far outside his usual genre.
As viewers, it's something we may not have paid much attention to, but for the performers, the musical scoring that plays as the 'iconator' rises apparently gives them both excitement and nerves. JM and Marielle said they will definitely miss that sound. They shared that one time when they were out of town for an event, they encountered a mirrored elevator, which reminded them of the iconator, realizing just how attached they had become to it.
Alexa opened up that she will miss her castmates from the bottom of her heart, admitting that there were times exhaustion made them question whether they still wanted to push through. But now that the finale is almost here, she never expected to feel this sad about it.
Rufa Mae put it best, saying, "Hindi biro ang pinagsamhan natin," that's why they will never forget their bond. "Ginawa ko na rin kayong pamilya, eh," she told her co-performers.
They went on to share more inside jokes and fond memories, and mentioned that they will also miss resident jurors Gary Valenciano, Sharon Cuneta, and Ogie Alcasid, mentors Klarisse De Guzman and Nyoy Volante, and hosts Jhong Hilario and Vhong Navarro.
