The “Pinoy Big Brother Celebrity Collab Edition 2.0” housemates started their day confused why there was no wake-up call and no signals from Kuya, only to find out the silence was actually connected to their next weekly task.
The housemates were then introduced to their special guest, Rack Corpuz, a deaf and key figure in the Kakamay Movement, a group focused on advocacy for the Deaf community and Filipino Sign Language (FSL) training. At first, the housemates found it challenging to communicate with Rack, but as they spent more time with her, they began to gain new perspectives about deaf people.
Soon after, Kuya announced that Rack and her interpreter, GP Palma, the founder of the Kakamay Movement, would take part in their 15th weekly task, which would be led by Marco Masa and Princess Aliyah. The task would require them to translate the song “Kabataang Pinoy” into a sign-song performance using Filipino Sign Language.
As GP introduced the mission of their organization, the housemates showed genuine interest in learning FSL to help raise awareness for the deaf sector. "Nabigyan po kami ni Sir GP at Miss Rack ng awareness tungkol sa mga karanasan ng mga deaf people or deaf community," housemate Ashley Sarmiento told Big Brother. "Nakakalungkot po, kuya, na nakakaranas po 'yung deaf people ng mga gano'ng klaseng pagtrato o karanasan."
After GP opened their eyes to the realities of the deaf community, Rack started teaching them standard sign language.
